We are now in our 60s, about ten years ago I took a long hard look at our diets, decided it was time to make sure we ate our vegetables and had a healthier relationship with fat.

It takes a while but it's worth doing. Once I got into a routine it became easier and surprisingly it was cheaper. Just a few weeks ago I had a routine blood test and my GP said my health and fitness was very good for someone of 63. I do walk most days, usually for about 20 minutes as I live within walking distance of town and I have a small dog.

Good luck, it's worth making the effort. Let yourself start by changing small things e.g. include more veg (frozen is fine, no reason to make it hard for yourself) and walk a bit more. Then you will feel good about what you're doing and over a year you will find you have made the changes you want.Maureenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12404265296554666518noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1640928856322776096.post-24652541763716202012012-02-28T10:06:30.289-08:002012-02-28T10:06:30.289-08:00I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and you...I'm so sorry to hear about your friend and your friend's Mum. If that lady's sad death gives you a wake-up call to start looking after yourself and get yourself fitter and healthier then her life won't have been in vain.
My hip replacement is a constant reminder to keep myself slim and healthy. I know I'm exceptionally lucky to be given a total replacement so young and I feel it would be a slap in the face of all those wonderful NHS workers who turned my life from being a hopeless cripple to who I am today. I got told last week that my arthritis is so aggressive that my "good" hip has, at best, only got another 5 years before that wears away completely so I'm making the most of what's left of it until it claps out completely. x
PS Thanks for your amazing advice on my garden, I wish you lived nearer. xVixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05263970600699632661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1640928856322776096.post-60043968036907887882012-02-28T07:59:28.555-08:002012-02-28T07:59:28.555-08:00Wow that is food for thought. I am in exactly that...Wow that is food for thought. I am in exactly that position at the moment. I have had problems with my weight pretty much all my life. I tried to turn it around in Sept last year and went to the gym or swimming 6 times a week I was enjoying it but then sadly I damaged my knee. I've been in pain every since and unable to exercise. Do I diet when I can't exercise oh no I stuff my face, comforting eating and drinking through the pain!

However I do have the pain meds sorted now so at least I'm not comfort eating however I am still in a position where my weight is not manageable and if I don't do something about it now, it really will start to be too late....

Thanks for writing about this!Straight Talking Mama!https://www.blogger.com/profile/13010105224878943505noreply@blogger.com
